This database gives access to the Treasurer’s inward correspondence (1838–1855) that details publicans’ names, hotel names, hotel addresses, and the names of persons to whom hotels were transferred (if applicable).

Search this database to find inward correspondence relating to publicans.

Enter the publican’s family or given name, hotel, hotel address, and if applicable, the name of the person to whom the hotel was transferred, into the boxes below and click Search. The results screen displays details on each person found, including the volume (unit) and page number that needs to be consulted.

To order these records, take note of the volume number and consult the Consignment Details for VPRS 7 in the PROV online catalogue to identify the unit you need to order. Select the unit number matching the volume number you desire. Once ordered the volumes can be viewed at the Victorian Archives Centre Reading Room.
